diy

So diy is a big thing in weddings right now. Especially when you want a gorgeous wedding without spending any money, like i do. There are so many little details that I want to have and am tempted to take on. I think i'm going to need this later...

baffling

i don't understand the obsession with elaborate, handcrafted, letterpress, professionally designed invites. It's pretty, yes. But it's pretty expensive too, and doesn't feature at the actual wedding anyway. I guess because it's one of the first things that i very excited bride gets to do so she puts a lot of energy into it? Does it set the tone of the wedding? Amp up the anticipation? i think if i can get away with it i'll do paperless invites. I probably have lots of relatives that wouldn't work for though... Maybe simple invites, that i'll print myself for cheap and an online rsvp?

I'm not impervious to the charms of pretty invites though. i really like this design... it think it's possible to do it yourself.

Love

I heart photo booths. your guest would have so much fun + you get all these cools photos to take home. The professional ones are expensive, but what's to stop you from just setting up a camera and a tripod? A homemade background and some props, voila!

Ohh la la

What about having love poems and love quotes framed and scattered throughout the reception? I love these frames.

Something like this...

There are days we live
as if death were nowhere
in the background; from joy
to joy to joy, from wing to wing,
from blossom to blossom to
impossible blossom, to sweet impossible blossom.
- Li-Young Lee

Right?
